These four comunidades autónomas, Andalucía, Cataluña, Madrid and Valencia, house 58% of Spain's population. The chart compares population share with similar for numbers of bankruptcies and mortgage foreclosures. The sources for this are court proceedings statistics from the CGPJ website and population stats from the INE.
Figure are totals from first quarter 2007.

Wow! Great chart Ibex Salad. The foreclosures compared to percentage population in the comunidad de Valencia is pretty frightening but I guess understandable with all those new builds; but what at first sight really appears shocking is the Catalan comunidad and its percentage of bankruptcies.
Thanks.
Would it be fair to say then that the Cajas in the areas with high foreclosures and bankruptcies are the most exposed?
The Valenica data is mind-boggling. 11% of the population but 19% of the forclosures.
It would be nice to see what banks/cajas have the bulk of Valencias mortgages.
Part of the problem is that Valencia beaches are the closest there are to Madrid and most (maybe) of the mortgages for new flats were originated locally.
Start with Bancaja and CAM. Maybe even finish there.
